Hehe, yes, regarding my birthday, i Joked to my husband that the bible was a nice gift for my birthday. Then he joked back that it was his gift for me. Lol. But it turned out I didn't get one....😂

Revised bible in Dutch

there are many many changes, even some of the the dutch 'jw-language' will change because bible verses changed.
also brother jackson admitted (be it in a joking way ) that whole talks in the past (until now) had been based on wrong translated bible verses.

'De grote schare' doesn't exist anymore. It is 'de grote menigte' now in Rev.7:9
and also 'geloof oefenen' was something that had been literally translated from English, not from Greek. In Greek 'faith' can be a verb, just like in Dutch. In English it needs other words...to put faith in someone, have faith, exercise faith.
Indeed we had lots of times spelled out in talks how we have to EXERCISE faith...as if it is a work we have to do. (Exercising like in 'workout, training'). All based on that translation from ENGLISH instead of Greek... now it is simple 'geloven' instead of 'geloof oefenen'.

IN The congregation was a new bible for every publisher. I didn't get one. I don't understand that, because though I'm not an ACTIVE publisher I always thought in JW speak I still was a publisher. Maybe they changed something, or maybe I never understood it at all. 😏
Another brother didn't get one either he left the kingdom hall in anger.

When I read the list of signs, I thought you meant JW.org being a 'parent' and the JW's being the 'children'. And yes, it was abuse. When you are NOT allowed to think your own thoughts, that's criminal and abusive. Even when you have parents that really love you, when you grew up in this religion you have been caged.
And the feelings of people abused like this can be as strong and overwhelming as the feelings of people who have been physically abused, and so can be the effects on the life. It can make you ill. The feeling of not being possible to live the life you want can make you physically ill, and cause a lot of mental and physical troubles. So no need to apologize for anything you wrote.

it said that there have been doctrinal changes in many chapters of the book 'god's kingdom rules' so everyone but especially the conductor must be sure to use the latest update of the book.. this book is only ...how old?

@darkspilver... did I say something wrong? I just told here what was read in the kingdom hall. Because I think it's ridiculous that the books need updating so often and soon now and I thought it was 'news' that there was an official letter about it. Did not make any assumption about how and what the changes were... maybe YOU expected it to be more.
And for the other thread I started: i thought it was ridiculous that JW don't blink an eye about lots of things, (like children's abuse) but when the Calendar is not to be continued they're in shock. Stupid.

Yes, I saw the streaming on Sunday. I thought David Splanes talk was not that bad indeed. I especially liked the quote he made (someone said that to him) : "The truth is the truth, no matter who tells it." Yes sir. Even if so-called apostates tell the truth, it is still truth, right?!
The hall itself was not really shown in the streaming. Not much to see there, I guess.
It's very simple. They said that's the new style for all Assemblyhalls to be built, and it is because the money
is gonecan go to countries where there's greater need of kingdom halls.... right.There are wooden chairs , more like benches (5 seats on one set of legs (?) don't know how to say this in English) - and also for the special assembly days NO opportunity to bring your own chair! For the regional conventions you CAN bring your own chair, but there is not a lot of space for them, and there will be NO 'chair' cards given in advance any more, so I suppose if you need a special chair, you have to fight for a spot.
I always need a special chair, so I think that means no more assembly days for me then.

I was on another convention and saw a LOT of tight pants! And that's the most 'old-fashioned' convention in The Netherlands, the northern regio. So Utrecht convention must have been 'worse'.

Dutch convention: disassociation in broader perspective
by Gorbatchov intoday at the utrecht international convention in holland there was no "word in spanish" about dissassociation.. "we avoid any contact with dissassociated witnesses.
not only sinners, but in a broader perspective, also inactive witnesses".. there was a lot of noise in the hall direct after that moment.. so, no fading escape in the near future, i expect.. g..
